Youth Representatives on the Washburn County Board of Supervisors
The Washburn County Board of Supervisors welcomes youth in grades 9, 10, and 11 who are residents of Washburn County to apply to serve as youth representatives on the County Board. This initiative provides Washburn County youth an opportunity to play a valuable and active leadership role in the governance of the county while enhancing their interest in the operation of local government and civic participation.
Youth involvement on the County Board will require not only enthusiasm, but also a commitment of time and energy to this important role. Youth representatives will be expected to attend County Board meetings. Youth will have the opportunity to participate in committee meetings if interested.

TERMS
Three youth will be selected to serve a one-year term (April 2012-April 2013) and three alternates will be selected to serve a two-year term (first year as alternate, second year as main representative; term April 2012-April 2014.)
YOUTH DISTRICTS
Three youth supervisory districts are made up of seven of the 21 Washburn County supervisory districts. Youth must reside in the youth district they will represent.
Youth Supervisory District-North: includes supervisory districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7
Youth Supervisory District-Central: includes supervisory districts 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 19
Youth Supervisory District-South: includes supervisory districts 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21
If necessary, you may contact the Washburn County Clerk’s Office at 468-4600 to find out your supervisory district or refer to the Washburn County Government website at www.co.washburn.wi.us .
APPLICATION PROCESS
- An application form and three references are due on February 27, 2012.
- One reference is to be from your parent/guardian and two from individuals in your school and/or community. Reference forms need to be sent directly by the individuals providing the reference.
- Selections will be made by early March.
- Training will be provided in March/April.
- Youth representatives will start their terms at the April County Board meeting.
